How to add a person to a photo

You have a photo, and someone is missing from it. You can add them in about a minute, with no editing skills. Upload the photo, upload a picture of them, say where they should stand, and look at the free preview.

You can leave this empty.

Free to try. You only pay if you want to keep the full-size picture.

Add a person to a photo in four steps

  • Upload the photo you want them added to.
  • Upload one to three clear photos of the person.
  • Write one sentence about where they should be: "standing next to the man in the blue shirt".
  • Look at the free preview. If it is not right, change your sentence and try again.

Why this is easier than editing by hand

Done by hand, you cut the person out, resize them, and fix the light and shadows so they do not look pasted on. That takes an hour or more and some practice.

Here we do that part for you, so the person looks like they were there. Nothing to download. It works in the browser on an iPhone, an Android phone or a computer.

Who people add

  • A friend or cousin who missed the group photo.
  • A relative who lives too far away to be there.
  • A child, a pet or a partner who was out of the shot.
  • Someone who has passed away, to have them in a family photo.

What it costs

Your first previews are free, with a small watermark. The first needs no sign-in, and your email gets you two more. The clean, full-size picture costs from $6.99, or $14.99 for five. You never pay to try.

Photo tips

  • For the person you are adding, pick a photo where their face is clear and well lit. Looking toward the camera works best.
  • Two or three photos of them from different days help the picture look more like them.
  • Old, faded or black-and-white photos are fine. The finished picture is in colour to match your family photo.
  • For the family photo, leave a little room where they would naturally stand or sit.
